Netball? Fans React As Sierra Leonean FA Set to Investigate 91:1, 95:0 League Results

Sierra Leonean football was thrown into a state of controversy after two Eastern Regional Super 10 League matches ended 91-1 and 95-0, respectively.

Lumbenbu had thrashed Kahula Rangers 95-0 away, while Gulf FC hammered Koquima Lebanon 91-1 in one of the most bizarre football results in the Sierra Leonean league.

According to a report via Complete Sports, the Sierra Leonean Football Association has now opened an investigation into the result of both games while declaring that all clubs involved are now subjects of interest.

The SLFA also revealed that it maintains a zero tolerance against match-fixing in any form and any party found guilty will be made to face the full extent of the law.

The football body revealed they will comply with all set rules of FIFA and CAF while the investigations are ongoing but assured the general public of their intent to get to the roots of the match results.

South African Football Association bans clubs for match-fixing

Meanwhile, the South African Football Association has placed a ban on clubs determined to be culprits of match-fixing in various forms in the South African leagues.

According to Goal, the Matiyasi Football club has been hit with a lifetime ban after South African Football officials ruled the team fixed its game in May 2022.

With promotion to the SAFA second-tier league in sight, Matiyasi’s and Nsami Mighty Birds conspired to allow Matiyasi to overcome their 16-goal deficit in the table to bypass the Dangerous Tigers and win the league title.

Africa affected by match-fixing

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Africa appears to have a match-fixing problem, according to a staggering new report.

The continent experienced more than 50 reported suspicious sports events in the last year.

This was part of more than 900 games in 10 sport codes across 76 countries globally which were deemed to be suspicious.
