Tau started the game for the reigning champions but was taken off during the break. Interim coach Samy Komsan has since explained the decision, allaying fears that Tau was being targeted, The Citizen reported.

“The match came at a time where we have injured players as well as players returning from international duty and others suffering from fatigue.
“That’s why we had to replace Tau with Hussein El-Shahat, because he was tired,” Komsan explained.

Al Ahly and Zamalek would end up drawing the game 2-2.

Despite the rumours about his future, Tau is committed to his future at the club, Soccer Laduma reported. The publication noted that Tau’s agent confirmed that he is committed to honouring his contract and that the club had no intention of selling him.

Al Ahly legend Ahmed Shobeir also believes that Tau will not be going anywhere. Tau has scored 14 goals since joining in August last year.

Former Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane was accused of treating players "unfairly" at the club and showing favouritism

Pitso Mosimane's sudden departure from Al Ahly reverberates through Egyptian football with opinions coming from all corners.

This time, veteran coach in the Egyptian Premier League Mohamed Omar believes that the 57-year-old showed favouritism towards certain players over others, which led to the changeroom possibly splitting.

According to Soccer Laduma, Omar pointed to Mosimane's compatriot Percy Tau as a sore point.

Percy Tau is the talk of the town after his performance in the CAF Champions League semi-final against ES Setif.

The South African was instrumental in his side’s victory, as he played a part in all four of Al Ahly’s goals against the Algerian side. Al Ahly won the first leg 4-0 and are almost guaranteed to progress to the tournament's finals.

Tau scored two goals and created two goals during the crushing victory and has since received praise from club legend Wael Gomaa, Soccer Laduma reported.
