According to Italian outlet, La Gazetta dello Sport, the West Londoners have already expressed an interest in signing the 26-year-old and could make a £21million bid.

Chelsea are hopeful of landing Dumfries with the help of Romelu Lukaku who could be shipped out to San Siro on loan.

Daily Mail reports that Thomas Tuchel's interest in Dumfries was occasioned by the exit of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Manchester United linked with Denzel Dumfries

However, Chelsea are expected to face stiff competition in their pursuit of Dumfries, with Man United also linked with the Dutchman.

United's interest in the Inter star comes after Aaron Wan-Bissaka struggled last season, with the Englishman getting relegated to the bench after a string of poor performances.

New Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is believed to be a huge fan of Dumfries having watched him from his time at PSV Eindhoven.

The Netherlands international who scored five goals last season is contracted at Inter Milan until 2025.

The 22-year-old shot into prominence after a blistering run of form with Benfica where he netted an eyewatering 48 goals in two seasons.

Speaking on his Liverpool transfer, the Uruguay international suggested that joining the Merseysiders was an easy decision to make.

Nunez explained that he is a huge fan of Liverpool's style of play which he contends he can perfectly fit in.
