Since news broke that Zungu opted not to renew his contract, three big clubs have been interested in the Bafana player.

Kaizer Chiefs, who have expressed an interest in the player for a long time, are still considering a move for the midfielder. His former side, Mamelodi Sundowns, have also approached his agent with hopes of luring him back to the Chloorkop.

Rumours have also linked him with a move to Egyptian side Al Ahly, King FUT reported. If the move is completed, it will see him reunite with former manager, Pitso Mosimane.

Zungu himself said that he is willing to experience football in other countries.

“At the end of the day, this football thing will come to an end one day, so why not try to experience other countries, football elsewhere and try new things,” he said in a recent interview, the publication reported.

One person who doesn’t think Zungu should return to the continent is Sandile Ndlovu. The former Mamelodi Sundowns strikers believes that moving back to South Africa would be a huge mistake, Soccer Laduma reported.

Ndlovu believe that’s that Zungu should fight for his place in Europe.

“I don't think coming back to the country is a wise decision, because he still has lots to offer. I wouldn't advise him to play here. He is too good for PSL and I'm really shocked that he is even considering a move this side," Ndlovu said.

Bongani Zungu has been a transfer target of Kaizer Chiefs for a very long time, but his recent comments have rubbed Amakhosi fans the wrong way.

Zungu recently became a free agent after turning down a contract extension at the French side, Amiens SC.

Since his decision to part ways with the French side, numerous clubs were rumoured to be after the star, including the South African duo of Kaizer Chiefs and his former club, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Bongani Zungu could be heading back to South African shores.

The central midfielder has attracted interest from Kaizer Chiefs before, but now his former side are also in the hunt for his signature.

SABC Sport reported that Mamelodi Sundowns have now made an offer to lure Zungu back to the Chloorkop. The Amakhosi have been monitoring Zungu’s contract situation in France for a few transfer windows and were expected to pounce when he became a free agent.
