SABC Sport reported that Mamelodi Sundowns have now made an offer to lure Zungu back to the Chloorkop.

The Amakhosi have been monitoring Zungu’s contract situation in France for a few transfer windows and were expected to pounce when he became a free agent.

The former Masandawana star recently became a free agent after declining to sign a new contract with Amiens SC in France.

Zungu spent three years as a Sundowns player before moving to Vitória Guimarães B in Portugal. He then moved to the first team at Vitória Guimarães before signing for Amiens.

During his time in France, he also went out on loan to Rangers in Scotland where he played under Steven Gerrard.

Zungu’s time in Europe has also been marred by controversy. He was suspended by Rangers and suspended by Amiens as well.

His poor disciplinary track record is also the reason why he failed to make the South African national team, Sport24 reported.

Bafana coach Hugo Broos recently confirmed that he would not pick Zungu for the side because of his attitude problems.

"For the moment, I will not pick Zungu because when I see what happened at Amiens, it can happen here and that I don't want," Broos said.

Bongani Zungu was sent off for dissent, coach blames the South African player for Amiens' loss in French Ligue 2

Just weeks after Bongani Zungu was being praised for his performances in France, the South African player landed himself in trouble once again.

Zungu was just returning to form for French Side Amiens, having been moved to a new position in defence.

Zungu was sent off after he received two yellow cards in quick succession. Zungu was given a yellow for dissent as he argued with the referee. The card didn’t deter the player and he continued to argue with the referee over the issuing of the card and was given a second yellow, just seconds later.

Bongani Zungu's Amiens Manager Opens Up, Player Reportedly Has Weight Issues

Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu is back at his parent club Amiens after going on loan to Rangers but he is struggling to get back into shape.

The player has not been able to feature for Amiens and his manager Philippe Hinschberger opened up about the issue. Zungu's fitness has also caused a problem for him in not being selected for the national team.

He hasn't played a competitive game of football since featuring for Rangers in April for the Scottish Premier League.
