  • Ukraine face Scotland in the World Cup qualifiers, with Zinchenko promising that his side will give their all to uplift the nation’s spirits

Ukraine has been war-torn since Russian President Vladimir Putin authorized his troops to war in February. The Daily Mail reports that Zinchenko fought back the tears as he addressed a question from a Ukrainian journalist asking how he felt about the whole situation.

Every Ukrainian wants one thing – to stop this war. I have spoken with people from all around the world, from different countries. I have also spoken to some Ukrainian kids who just don’t understand what’s happening back in Ukraine. They only want the to stop. They have one dream, to stop the war.

According to the BBC, the 25-year-old also thanked Scotland for the hospitality they showed his side. The Scottish team immediately agreed to postpone this match that was initially scheduled for March.

He has promised to deliver victory tonight to the Ukrainians to uplift the mood of the war-stricken nation.

Our mood I would describe as a fighting mood. Everyone understands what is going on in Ukraine these days, and what the situation is like on the ground. That’s why I would say our motivation is definitely 100 per cent to win.
We totally understand the situation that maybe there is no opportunity for a lot of Ukrainian people to watch the game tomorrow. But I am pretty sure that all Ukrainians who have the opportunity will watch us. We are going to feel this 100 per cent. We can speak a lot, but that is what we are going to try and do on the pitch tomorrow.

The winner of that clash will face Wales for a chance to compete at the FIFA World Cup.

Oleksandr Zinchenko dedicates Premier League triumph to Ukrainians

Sports Brief had earlier reported that following Manchester City’s Premier League triumph, Oleksandr Zinchenko dedicated the title to the people of Ukraine due to the continued Russian invasion of his home country.

The Ukrainian international was full of emotion after helping his side pick up the prestigious title in a spectacular fashion.

Tears flowed freely from Zinchenko’s eyes as he wrapped the Premier League title with the flag of his country, paying tribute to victims of the war.
