Emotional Scenes at Etihad As Manchester City Star Dedicates Premier League Title to War Torn Ukraine

Following Manchester City’s Premier League triumph on Sunday, Oleksandr Zinchenko has dedicated the title to the people of Ukraine due to the continued Russian invasion of his home country.

The Ukrainian international was full of emotion after helping his side pick up the prestigious title in a spectacular fashion.

Tears flowed freely from Zinchenko’s eyes as he wrapped the Premier League title with the flag of his country, paying tribute to victims of the war.

GOAL reports that the player has been vocal about the war crimes against his country and has disclosed the many negative impacts it has had on him.

Speaking about their comeback victory over Aston Villa at the Etihad, he told Sky Sports:

"Unforgettable emotions for me - for all Ukrainians who are at the moment starving, and surviving in my country because of Russian aggression.
"I am so proud to be Ukrainian and to bring this title to Ukraine, for all Ukrainian people because they deserve it.
"It means everything for me - I would die for these people and their support. What people gave me and what they have done for me during this period, the toughest period of my life, I am so appreciative and I will never forget this, never in my life.”

Salah was disappointed following Man City’s victory

Meanwhile, Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was left disappointed after he was informed by a fan that Manchester City had already gone ahead by the time he had scored.

Liverpool and Man City served football fans across the globe with an epic photo finish to the end of the Premier League season.

Salah, who was in a jubilant mood after putting Liverpool ahead in their game against Wolves, had to cut short his joy after he was told rivals Man City had gone ahead against Aston Villa.

Sports Brief earlier reported that the English Premier League season has come to an end and a superb final day of action capped off a superb season.

While Manchester City defended the title after a come-from-behind victory against Aston Villa, Liverpool also came from behind to take the title race right to the final whistle.

The race for the Golden Boot award also proved to be a thrilling affair as well as Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-Min and Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah tied for first place.
