Darwin Nunez has rejected advances from Manchester United. The Benfica striker has been a top transfer target for The Red Devils but reports have now emerged that he is choosing to hold on for better offers.
Nunez has caught the attention of top clubs and the world of football as a whole by his top perfomances this season. He has bagged 32 goals in all competitions.
Nunez is believed to be discouraged by United's lack of Champions League football next season. United are set to compete in the UEFA Europa League after a shambolic campaign that saw them change managers mid season.
RMC Sport reports, as quoted by Metro UK, that United were willing to offer almost 68 million euros ro bring the striker to Old Trafford.
The Uruguayan has been on the radar of top clubs including Arsenal and Newcastle. But both clubs will also miss out due to lack of Champions League football.
Arsenal had included Nunez on its wish list that also includes Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus and Barcelona's Memphis Depay.
Paris Saint Germain could remain a distant option for the 22-year old. PSG are set to lose both Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe amd could be in the market for new forwards.
Both are set to leave on free transfers with Di Maria being Juventus bound and Mbappee seemingly likely to join Real Madrid.
Manchester United will now turn their eyes towards other possible targets like Victor Osimhen as Ten Hag looks for more options to bolster his side.

This is not the first player to turn down Manchester United. Sports Brief previously reported that German teenager Karim Adeyemi had rejected huge wages to join Manchester United.
Adeyemi is understood to have picked Borussia Dortmund instead as his next club.
The RB Salzburg striker has enjoyed a stellar campaign this season and reports had emerged that Manchester United were interested in bringing him to England. Adeyemi has since completed the move to Borussia Dortmund and inked a five-year deal.
