Kenyan Star Philip Mayaka Missing As Chaos Erupts During MLS Game Between Sporting KC and Colorado Rapids

Chaotic scenes erupted at a Major League Soccer (MLS) game on Thursday morning. Sporting Kansas game against Colorado generated into mayhem in the last minutes of the game.

Match referee Dre Fischer brandished out four red cards in the space of four minutes as both teams finished with 9 men each.

The game, which was played at the Children’s Mercy Park, saw Sporting Kansas take the lead in the 24th minute through Daniel Salloi. The Hungarian international weaved his way through the Colorado defence to put his side ahead.

Five minutes later, a defensive mix up in the Sporting Kansas goal area gifted Lucas Esteves with an easy rebound to equal the tie.

Five minutes after the restart, Salloi pounced on a mistake from Lalas Abubakar to slot in his and his side’s second of the day. Colorado’s tough night didn’t end there as Auston Trusty was sent off for a second yellow card offence in stoppage time.

MLS Soccer reports that a few minutes later, Nicolas Mezquida was fouled by Johnny Russell of Sporting Kansas. Salloi then tripped Mezquida drawing an angry reaction from Esteves who shoved him to the ground. A full war kerfuffle ensued with both goal scorers receiving their marching orders. Sporting Kansas’ Andreu Fontas also saw red for his role in the chaos.

The game ended thereafter with the same scoreline of 2-1. Colorado Rapids is the home of Kenyan international Philip Mayaka. Mayaka was absent from the matchday squad. He currently plays in the feeder team of the MLS side.

Kenyan Fans angry at Caretaker Committee's alleged expenditure

Sports Brief also reported that Kenyan football fans took to social media to express their frustrations after the alleged expenditure of the FKF Caretaker Committee was revealed.

Reports emerged that the Caretaker committee allegedly used an approximate value of 564 million Kenya shillings in operations.

The Caretaker Committee recently exited office after the completion of its six-month term. Their place was taken by a transition committee which is set to run football issues in the country for the next five weeks.
