- Dauda's shocking revelation comes in the wake of widespread reports of match-fixing in the Ghana Premier League
Fatau Dauda has lifted the lid on the reason which influenced his decision to depart Nigerian top-flight outfit Enyimba FC.
The former Black Stars shot-stopper who spent three seasons with Enyimba disclosed his stay in Nigeria was short-circuited by betting scandals.
His comments come on the back of growing betting scandals which has plagued the Ghana Premier League.
Speaking on Accra-based television network Angel TV, Dauda, who is currently unattached after the expiration of his deal with Legon Cities highlighted he took the decision to leave Enyimba when he got wind of the match-fixing scandals in the club.
“There’s one particular reason why I finally decided to leave Enyimba FC. It’s all because of betting. Betting can completely destroy football” he said as quoted by Football Ghana.
“You know Nigeria is a big country. Sometimes, we can be on the road for two days travelling for an away game. We will go and lose a game but when we come on the bus, you’ll see some players happy”
“You’ll see some players pressing their phones, checking score lines of other league games. I later got to find out from one of our guys that some of the players in the team were betting on our matches”
“They were fixing the games. It was shocking. It was the reason I decided to leave because I can’t be part of this and it was a waste of time playing in games when some people have already planned the outcome” he ended.

The Ghanaian top-flight has been rocked with betting scandals with the reports spreading like wildfire as the Premier League gets to a close.
The growing match-fixing scandals have thrown the competition into disrepute with many attributing the low patronage of the local league to the increased dubious betting patterns, which correctly predict outcomes of games.
