Matilda Assabil has now beat out the world's youngest female footballer record, which was held by American youngster Olivia Moultrie.

Moultrie made her official debut at the age of 15 for the American club Portland Thorns against Racing Louisville on July 3, 2001.

How Social Media reacted

Assabil's age has generated mixed reactions from Ghana football lovers on social media.

@Annan_raph tweeted:

Everyone can force a young kid as 10 years or less into a team and call it a record but where is the professionalism! We applaud mediocracy a lot in this part of our world!

@papa_bentil added:

Most big clubs in Europe have academies (U9, U13) etc who are made to play a Prof. League for grooming of such kids. That is how the stars like Mbappe and Co. were produced. If this was from the west, you surely would had said it is laudable but you are terming it as mediocrity

@joe_berean questioned:

A lot of child labor comments. Let's say a 10 year old is earning money out of her passion. She is a writer or artist, a good cook something at that age. People like to see her in action and in appreciation for her craft give her some money. That's child labor?

@Aikinsmerl said:

This picture will resurface very soon to talk about her journey to greatness

@Nmmolefe added:

Wow, she must be really special to be playing in the league.

@gadocansey commented

How strong are the legs.. Are we joking or being real...

@nii_amarh_ added:

Sometimes people are just talented or too talented for their ages let's leave things to what they are and stop this impunity we all did things for money to survive at younger ages
