  • Ronaldo outshines everyone in the Premier League when it comes to scoring against the current top five sides in the division
  • He has as many goals as his closest challenger, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah who has four goals so far
  • Salah however leads Ronaldo in the Golden Boot race with the Egyptian on course to bagging another individual award

New statistics have revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo is still a decent striker despite his advanced age. Questions have been thrown around the striker’s ability to play at the top level, but he keeps silencing his doubters.

Ronaldo is currently second in the race for the Golden Boot award, with only Mohamed Salah outscoring him. However, when it comes to performing against top teams, the Portuguese forward edges the Egyptian.

A new stat showing how strikers have performed against the current top five teams in the Premier League puts Ronaldo at position one with 8 goals ahead of Salah’s five.

The 37-year-old latest goal came in his side’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea. It was his 101st goal in the Premier League and his first-ever against Chelsea. He also bagged the consolation goal against Arsenal over the weekend.

Tottenham Ronaldo's greatest victims

Tottenham Hotspur have been his greatest casualties, with half of his goals coming against the London side. He scored a hat trick in the second leg to accompany the one he scored in the first leg as United did a double over Spurs.

Ronaldo was also at hand to help his side beat Arsenal in the first leg encounter by grabbing a brace. Salah, meanwhile, has scored against Manchester City, Chelsea once and Arsenal twice.

Manchester United were not involved in this analysis by Sky Sports, given that they are currently in sixth place. Salah has grabbed a few goals against United and could have eclipsed Ronaldo.

Others include Crystal Palace’s Odsonne Edouard, who, despite not playing quite a lot this season has four goals against the top five teams. Salah’s teammates Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota also have four goals each.

Ronaldo missed out on Liverpool's game

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Cristiano Ronaldo missed out on the Liverpool match after losing his newborn baby. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner had broken the news on his social media pages.

He was excused from the Liverpool game as his side got a 4-0 hiding. He, however, returned against Arsenal to score his 100th Premier League goal.
