Erik ten Hag has reportedly drawn up a five-man shortlist of Manchester United players he wants sold ahead of his Old Trafford arrival.

Ten Hag will be taking charge of the struggling Premier League giants at the end of the ongoing season.

He will be replacing interim boss, Ralf Rangnick, who is expected to take up a consultancy role at Man United.

The Dutchman has been backed to embark on a radical surgery on the current United squad which has struggled for form this term.

Mass exit looming at Old Trafford

Ten Hag's arrival will be marked with a number of departures at the Theatre of Dreams, with several players set to exit the club once their deals expire.

Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba top the list of senior players who are out of contract, while Nemanja Matic has already announced he sett to leave.

The midfield duo of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata is also unlikely to get contract renewals, paving way for their moves away.

Ten Hag to work with strained transfer budget

According to Metro UK, Ten Hag has already identified key areas that need strengthening this summer in his bid to get the club back to the top.

However, the publication claims the tactician will have a strained budget of between £100m-£150m, meaning he will have to sell to boost the kitty.

The report adds that the Dutch boss is willing to offload at least five players to raise more funds for his transfer budget.

Eric Bailly and Phil Jones headline the list of players Ten Hag has earmarked for sale, while he is open to parting with Anthony Martial, Alex Telles and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

6 Man United stars to miss Chelsea clash

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Ralf Rangnick has revealed he will be without a number of players when Manchester United host Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Key among those unavailable for selection include club captain, Harry Maguire, and Jadon Sancho who is ill.

The clash is crucial for the Red Devils who are keen to secure Champions League football at the end of the season.
