  • Rangnick insisted he has no regrets over taking up the hot seat at Old Trafford
  • Despite the hype surrounding the former RB Leipzig boss when he came in on interim basis, Manchester United has failed to soar to new heights
  • With no prospects of silverware this season, United only have the top four to fight for with eight games remaining

Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has made it clear he has no regrets about taking up the job at Old Trafford.

Rangnick took over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November 2021 and there was a lot of optimism surrounding his appointment at the time.

However, under his tutelage, United have been unable to rediscover their lost spark, and the club is set to go another season without clinching silverware.

United crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Middlesbrough and was recently also eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16 by Atletico Madrid.

For now, the only glimmer of hope for the Red Devils is the outward chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Ahead of the Red Devils’ clash against Norwich City, Rangnick was asked whether he had regrets.

“No, no regrets whatsoever." He said.
"I would do it over and over again. I don't regret that at all as a manager.
“You always have to question and ask yourself what you could have done better, if I could have played with a different formation in certain games, if a substitution could have been done earlier. This is what always happens, we always question ourselves, what we could have done better.
"I think we are all aware it's not an easy squad, the whole situation was not easy or I would not be sitting here and Ole would probably still be here."

What next for Man United?

Rangnick is set to take up a consultancy role at Old Trafford when the season comes to a close, while Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag is reportedly on the verge of being named the new manager from next season.

Ten Hag is highly-rated as a manager and has won two Eredevisie titles at Ajax as well as guiding the Dutch giants to the Champions League semi-final three years ago.

Cristiano Ronaldo poised for Man United exit

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported of how Erik Ten Hag is reportedly considering axing Cristiano Ronaldo once he is appointed new Manchester United maanger

Ten Hag reportedly does not have Ronaldo in his long term plans, and this has led to speculation that the 37-year old is on his way out of the club after only one season since his return.

A number of clubs are plausible destinations for Cristiano including Real Madrid and Inter Miami in the MLS.
