  • English-born Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo has made an injury return after being on the sidelines close to a month
  • The Bristol City striker picked another injury in their Championship game against West Bromwich Albion in March
  • He missed out on the Black Stars squad that crossed horns with Nigeria for the 2022 FIFA World Cup play-off games

Antoine Semenyo has resumed light training for his club Bristol City ahead of their clash against Peterborough United on Saturday.

The 22-year-old has been out of action since suffering a knee injury in a Championship match against West Bromwich Albion last month.

Semenyo was expected to be part of the Ghana squad that face Nigeria in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final qualifying round against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

But the knee injury shut out his dream of making an international appearance for the Black Stars in the two-legged affair against their West African rivals.

After initial fears of how serious the injury was, the Ghanaian attacker has recovered and is back in full-scale training for his club.

Semenyo will likely be part of Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson's squad set to face Peterborough United on Saturday.

Antoine Semenyo's imperious form since December has seen him involved in the most goals in the English Championship in that period, proceeding to win the Player of the month award in January.

He has scored six goals in 24 games for The Robins and added eight assists, with the 22-year-old flourishing since being moved into a central striker’s role by Nigel Pearson.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Antoine Semenyo picked up an injury again in Bristol City's Sky Bet Championship clash with West Brom on Saturday afternoon.

Nigel Pierson was forced to make an early substitution after the English-born Ghanaian forward went down with what looked like a hamstring injury.

Semenyo was named in the starting XI but was replaced in the 6th minute by Nahki Wells after struggling to shake off the injury he picked up during the game.
