Ifeanyi Udeze has stated emphatically that Austin Eguavoen was not fully in charge of the Super Eagles of Nigeria during his three-month reign before being fired.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) hired Austin Eguavoen in December 2021 on interim capacity after sacking Gernot Rohr and was given the task of leading the Super Eagles to AFCON.

Eguavoen and his Super Eagles players started their campaign at the 2021 AFCON on an impressive note winning their first three games in the tournament.

Also, Eguavoen failed to qualify the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the 2022 FIFA World Cup losing the play-offs against the Black Stars of Ghana.

According to the report on Complete Sports, Udeze who played 35 games for the Super Eagles blamed Eguavoen for Nigeria's inability to get the 2022 World Cup ticket.
