Chelsea Fan Group Hold Protests Outside Stamford Bridge During Brentford Game

• Chelsea Supporters Trust (CST) staged protests outside Stamford Bridge during the game against Brentford
• The fans are angry at the approach by the Ricketts family to attempt to buy the club
• There are damning claims suggesting Chicago Cubs owner Tom Rickett is against the muslim community
• According to the CST, 77% of its members do not support the Ricketts family’s bid for the Premier League club

A section of Chelsea fans on Saturday, April 2 made their feelings known about the club’s potential new owners, the Ricketts family.

Recent reports have suggested that the West London club could see ownership shift to Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts and his family, and negotiations are still ongoing.

This is however to the disliking of the Chelsea fan group, who on Wednesday urged fans to show up to the game against Brentford at Stamford Bridge to protest the potential takeover.

Ahead of the Brentford game, Chelsea Supporters Trust came out in large numbers in protest outside Stamford Bridge to condemn the Americans' approach to taking over the club.

Part of the reason fans do not want the Ricketts family owning the club is because of leaked emails from Tom’s father Joe which suggested he made sentiments to the effect of “Muslims are my natural enemy”.

Sunsport further reports that other bidders for the club are crying foul over alleged preferential treatment of the Ricketts family in negotiations to buy the club.

At least 100 fans gathered outside Stamford Bridge with banners bearing words like “No to Ricketts” and “No to Racism”.

Fans also chanted, "Ricketts, you are not wanted here”.

Last month, embattled Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic confirmed his intentions to sell the club after he was slapped with sanctions for his connections to Russia President Vladmir Putin.

As it stands, four parties remain in the race to purchase Chelsea, and a sale will likely be in the region of £2.5billlion.

As far as the game is concerned, Chelsea slumped to a first defeat to Brentford since 1939 as Christian Eriksen inspired the Bees to a 4-1 win that should seal their Premier League survival.

The Blues had gone in front early in the second half at Stamford Bridge through Antonio Rudiger's sensational long-range strike.

But quick fire goals from Brentford turned the game around as Thomas Tuchel’s side lost for the first time since owner Roman Abramovich was hit by UK government sanctions.
