The development is believed to have plunged Tuchel's future with Chelsea into uncertainty, with United being urged to swing into action and snap him up.

Man United's hunt for a permanent manager to intensify

Following United's recent elimination from the Champions League, the club have been predicted to kick off their hunt for a permanent manager in earnest.

Current interim boss Ralf Rangnick is expected to step down at the end of the season to take up a consultancy role at Old Trafford thereby paving way for a new manager to come in.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax's Erik ten Hag have for the longest time been backed as strong favourites to take charge at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, Tuchel's recent links to the Manchester outfit have complicated the matrix for the two managers.
