Nigerian female Under-17 national team known as Flamingos were impressive on Saturday evening, 19 March, beating Democratic Republic of Congo 5-0 in World Cup qualifiers.
The 2022 Under-17 Women's World Cup will be held in India and Nigerian girls are in high spirit to qualify for the prestigious tournament later this year.
Playing at the Benin stadium, the Flamingos started the match against DR Congo impressively and were confident of winning having won the first leg 3-0 away.

Opeyemi Ajakaiye scored a brace while Tumininu Adeshina, Anastasia Atume and Taiwo Afolabi all scored one goal each as the Nigeria’s U-17 girls got a place further in the race for the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.
According to the reports on Punch and Prime Business, the Flamingos of Nigeria will now be facing Egypt in the next round of the qualifiers which is also expected to be tough.
The clash against Egypt will be the final round of the qualifiers and it is scheduled for the month of May.
