Ghanaian politician and businessman Chairman Wontumi says he wants to build on Chelsea's legacy of African players after placing a bid to buy the club, Sportsmail reports.

Chairman Wontumi, known in real life as Bernard Antwi Boasiako, is in the running for the ownership of the London-based outfit and walked the talk by submitting a £3 billion bid on March 9.

Chairman Wontumi to build on Chelsea's legacy of African players.

Chairman's Wontumi's spokesman told Sportsmail:

"Chelsea has a lasting legacy in Africa, players like Didier Drogba and Michael Essien are legends of the club; the opportunity to enhance the club's reputation in Africa is a very tempting prospect.

Wontumi is also said to have pledged to make Chelsea a more family friendly club by having concessions for children at Stamford Bridge.

Essien and Drogba had a successful stint at Chelsea winning several trophies including the UEFA Champions League in 2012.

The two also fostered a harmonious relationship which wasn't only visible on the field alone but also off the field as well.

In addition to Drogba and Essien; the likes of Salomon Kalou, John Obi Mikel, Samuel Eto'o - and most recently Edouard Mendy all playing for the club. He is said to be a particular fan of former Blues midfielder Claude Makelele, who is of Congolese descent.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian businessman and politician Bernard Antwi Boasiako has revealed an ambitious plan of signing Manchester United talisman Ronaldo and PSG superstar Messi after submitting an official bid to announce his intention of buying Chelsea.

Antwi Boasiako, affectionately called Chairman Wontumi earlier made claims of purchasing the reigning FIFA Club World Cup champions, which has been put on sale by its beleaguered Russian owner Roman Abramovic.

According to a post on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, the business mogul has made a statement of intent in owning Chelsea.
