  • Hearts of Oak left-back Dennis Korsah is set to earn his maiden call-up to the senior men's national team
  • The red-hot defender has been in tremendous form for the Ghana Premier League side and his addition will add more bite to the Black Stars' defence
  • Ghana will square off against archrivals Nigeria in a titanic cliffhanger which will be staged later in the month

Hearts of Oak defender Dennis Korsah could be part of the Black Stars team to face Nigeria in the crucial World Cup qualifier later this month.

Korsah was instrumental when Hearts of Oak defeated archrivals Asante Kotoko to win the 2022 President's Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium over the weekend.

The left-back was also impressive when the Phobians shared the spoils with the Porcupine Warriors in the Ghana Premier League last month.

His recent performance is a huge boost for interim Black Stars coach Otto Addo, who is struggling to name his squad due to fitness problems with Ghanaian players abroad.

Korsah could replace Baba Rahman

Current left-back for the Black Stars Abdul Baba Rahman is a doubt for the upcoming World Cup playoffs after he sustained a thigh injury when his side Reading faced Preston North End in the Championship earlier last night.

With Rahman's return not clear yet, Ghana coach Otto Addo has identified Korsah as the right man for the defensive slot.

Korsah has won two Man of the Match awards after five games in the Premier League.

Prolific English Born Striker Earns Debut Black Stars Callup

Sports Brief earlier reported that English-born Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo has earned a call-up to the Black Stars ahead of the epic encounter against West African neighbours Nigeria.

Semenyo's imperious form since December has seen him involved in the most goals in the English Championship in that period, proceeding to win the Player of the month award in January.

The 22-year-old's renaissance since suffering an injury has courted the interest of the Ghana Football Association.
