  • Strasbourg played against OGC Nice in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday night and drew 0-0
  • But if it wasn't for Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku, Strasbourg would likely have lost the highly competitive game
  • The 27-year-old made a stunning last-ditch tackle to stop Nice forward Amine Gouiri from going clear on goal

Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku produced one of the tackles of the season in the French Ligue 1 after stopping a near-certain goal.

The Strasbourg centre back made an amazing recovery to thwart a Nice counter-attack during the 0-0 draw on Saturday.

With just over five minutes remaining to the end of the game, Nice, who were two men down in the game, got a late counter attack with their forward closing in on the Strasbourg goalkeeper.

It appeared inevitable Nice would open the scoring but Djiku had other ideas.

The 27-year-old guardsman sprinted back to make a sensational recovery challenge on Amine Gouiri.

Still, his heroics were integral in helping his side keep a clean sheet courtesy of a 0-0 draw.

He has made 19 appearances for Strasbourg in the current campaign, starting 69% of the total number of matches he has played.
