Harry Kane scored twice, including a late winner, as Tottenham Hotspur beat runaway league leaders Manchester City 3-2 in what will go down as a Premier League classic.

City thought they had salvaged a draw when Riyad Mahrez fired in from the penalty spot at stoppage time, but there was more drama yet to come.

But Kane, who was a top target for Manchester City last summer, got to the end of a Dejan Kulusevski to swoop all three points for his side, who have now completed the double over Manchester City this season.

In a match in which Manchester City were overwhelming favourites, the runaway Premier League leaders were stunned only five minutes in by a swift counterattack from Spurs as Heung Min Son broke off after a superb pass from Kane.

The South Korean squared the ball to Kulusevski, who made no mistake with a tap in to silence the Etihad.

As expected, Manchester City were thoroughly dominant in possession and their equaliser came just after the hour mark as Ilkay Gundogan took advantage of a mistake from Hugo Lloris.

An entertaining first half ended in a 1-1 stalemate, with all to play for in the second period.

Spurs stun City, again

Like in the first half, the visitors once again stunned Manchester City in the 59th minute, this time Harry Kane swept a first time shot into the top corner after a swift move between himself, Ryan Sessegnon and Son.

Antonio Conte’s side thought they had gone 3-1 up as Kulusevski’s deflected shot fell kindly for Kane, who squeezed the ball past Ederson, but a review showed Kulusevski was offside in the build-up to the goal.

With the clock running down, City went forward once again and one of their swift attacks saw them awarded a penalty as a VAR review adjudged Cristian Romero to have handled Bernardo Silva’s shot.

Seven minutes were added on and with the game finely poised at 2-2, it was Tottenham who pulled a rabbit out of the hat and it was that man Kane once again.

Kulusevski did brilliantly to keep the ball on the right-wing to cross it to the England international, who rose highest to head home the winner in a remarkable game.
