  • Kaizer Chiefs are yet to win a game or score a goal in 2022 and fans are demanding answers for the poor form
  • Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter, has blamed inactivity for the Amakhosi' poor start to this year's games
  • Muti has been suggested as a reason why Kaizer Chief has been plagued by injuries and are yet to win in 2022

Is bad muti to blame for Kaizer Chiefs bad run of form in 2022 or is it inactivity?

Chiefs remain winless this year, and goalless, drawing with Cape Town City and getting knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by TS Galaxy. The Amakhosi are third in the DStv Premiership, one point behind Orlando Pirates but a massive 19 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns.

As Sport24 reported, coach Stuart Baxter put down the poor form to inactivity. Prior to their Nedbank Cup loss, Kaizer Chiefs last played in December last year. The December matches came on the back of a Covid19 outbreak at the club which also forced them to miss some fixtures.

But it’s not just the poor form that Chiefs are going through. The club has also been plagued by injury. Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Reeve Frosler are injured, Njabulo Ngcobo suffered severe burns, and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has also been sidelined with an undisclosed illness.

There are some who believe that Kaizer Chiefs’ use of muti has come back to haunt them now, The South African reported.

Junior Khanye speaks up about muti at Kaizer Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs player, Junior Khanye, recently opened up about the use of muti in football. Speaking to KickOff, he added that he had never seen anyone at the club ever use muti but admitted that there was always a wet jersey in the dressing room before games.

"Truly speaking yes there was a smell, and the jersey was wet, but I'm not too sure whether it was a smell of Muti or mixed water, Khanye said.

Muti in football isn’t uncommon and former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates player, Teko Modise, admitted that the Buccaneers performed certain rituals while he was at the club.

DStv Premiership: Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter's job is safe... for now

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter’s position has not been helped by their Nedbank Cup exit at the hands of TS Galaxy, who beat Amakhosi 1-0 this past weekend to effectively extend Chiefs’ trophy drought for another season.

The Amakhosi take on Cape Town City this evening in the DStv Premiership, where a win will keep the wolves at the gate for the meantime, Sports Brief recently reported before the crunch game.

Kaizer Chiefs fans are currently calling for Stuart Baxter to be shown the door, with assistant coach, Arthur Zwane, favoured among the candidates to take over the running of their beloved club.
