  • Burnley hold Arsenal to a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium as the Gunners winless run continues
  • Despite dominating the game, Arsenal found it difficult to break a very disciplined Burnley team
  • Arsenal are now two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United having played a game more

Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, January 23, as they lost ground in the race for the top four.

The Gunners dominated the game but found it difficult to break a Burnley side who had not played a Premier League fixture in three weeks due to Covid postponements.

Despite having several chances to win the game Arsenal will only have themselves to blame as they struggled to convert their chances.

Alexandre Lacazette had the Gunners best chance of the game but he could only flash his effort high from an Emile Smith Rowe cut-back.

With the result, Arsenal made it five games without a win in all competitions since the start of the new year. They will also end the month of January without a win.

They are now two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United having played a game more.

Premier League Title Race Thrown Wide Open As Liverpool Beat Crystal Palace to Close Gap on Man City

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Liverpool made it three wins out of three in seven days after beating Crystal Palace 3-1 to put pressure back on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds have now closed the gap at the top of the table to nine points with one game in hand.

Goals from Virgil Van Dijk, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Fabinho secured all three points for Liverpool.

Crystal Palace consolation goal came in the second half from the boot of Odsonne Edouard.

Despite not having Mo Salah and Sadio Mane in their matchday squad due to their involvement at AFCON, Liverpool got the job done.

The victory takes Liverpool up to 48 points, nine points behind table-toppers Man City who have 57 points.

Chelsea are third with 44 points while Man United sit in 4th with 38 points.
