Chelsea are on the verge of completing their first January transfer window signing as Thomas Tuchel’s side chase former Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona Lucas Digne, Sky Sports reports.
The Blues are in the market for a left-back following the long-term injury to Ben Chilwell as he is out for the rest of the season.
SPORTbible are reporting that Marcos Alonso his only recognisable left wing-back and now they are already doing business to fill Chilwell's void.
It was gathered that Digne has fallen out of favour under manager Rafa Benitez and he could be heading away from the Goodison Park.
The 28-year-old joined the Toffees from Spanish club Barcelona in 2018, but he has not been able to break into the Everton starting line up under Benitez
He managed to feature in just 10 league games before clashing with his manager, but Digne, who also enjoyed a two-year spell at PSG, is known for his quality delivery so he could fit nicely into Tuchel's system.
Further reports had suggested Tuchel had been keen on recalling Emerson Palmieri from his loan spell at Lyon.
Chelsea confident of keeping Rudiger
Meanwhile, Chelsea football club has been given a huge boost in their bid to tie highly-rated defender Antonio Rudiger to a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year old contract runs out at the end of the season and talks between the defender and Chelsea seem to have hit a brick wall after reports emerged top clubs including Real Madrid, PSG, and Manchester United were showing interest in the German international.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Brazilian defender Thiago Silva has extended his contract with English Premier League club Chelsea until 2023 having signed a new one-year contract.
The 37-year-old who joined the London club in 2020 will now remain at the Stamford Bridge until the summer of next year.
Silver has been sensational for the Blues since his arrival, playing a crucial role in helping the club lift the Champions League last season.
