  • Karim Adeyemi who has been impressive for Austrian side Salzburg is on the radar of several top European clubs
  • The German striker of Nigerian descent is being trailed by Spanish club Barcelona who are desperate in landing the 19-year-old
  • The Catalan giants who are desperate in landing Erling Haaland have seen Adeyemi as an alternative, should they fail to sign the Norwegian

In their bid to bolster the squad as soon as the January transfer window opens, Spanish club Barcelona have continued their chase for Nigerian descent Karim Adeyemi.

Born in Germany to a Nigerian father and Romanian mother, the 19-year-old has featured for the German senior national team, having three caps already.

Following his impressive run of form in recent times, Adeyemi is billed to leave Austrian club Salzburg at the end of the season as several European clubs are jostling for his signature.

It was gathered that Catalan side Barca see the striker as an alternative to priority target Erling Haaland who they have been struggling to sign.

Complete Sports reported that should they fail to reach terms with Borussia Dortmund for Haaland, they will turn to Adeyemi as a second-choice striker target.

Barca officials reportedly met with agents for Adeyemi in November at the Nou Camp and have maintained contact ever since.

And the players of interest are thought to be Ajax winger Antony, and RB Salzburg prodigy Karim Adeyemi aged 21 and 19 respectively.

They both have shown great prospects, although they each have a very long way to go before reaching Salah's level.

Klopp urges Salah to join Barcelona instead of Real Madrid

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly urged his star man Mohamed Salah to consider joining Barcelona ahead of Real Madrid.

The Egyptian has been linked with a move away from Anfield, especially with his contract renewal stalling over lack of agreement on new wage demands.

Salah was said to have informed the Reds board that he will only continue at the club if they increase his weekly earnings to the tune of £500,000 according to sources close to the forward.

Man Utd to do business in January transfer window

Sports Brief earlier reported that Man United could be forced to spend big during the January transfer window following a recent poor run of form.

The Red Devils, fresh from their Covid-19 hiatus were unable to see off Newcastle at St. James Park, settling for a disappointing 1-1 draw away from home.

Allan Saint-Maximin was on target for the Magpies, with Edinson Cavani having to come off the bench to rescue a point for United.

The result dealt the Old Trafford dwellers a massive blow in their hopes of sealing a top-four place as they currently sit seventh on the log.
