Heartbreak As Impressive Footballer Dies at the Age of 25 After Suffering Heart Attack in Training

Impressive Guatemalan footballer Marcos Menaldo who played for Deportivo Marquense reportedly suffered a heart attack and passed away at the age of 25.

SunSport are reporting that the talented youngster was in training on Monday, January 3, when the tragic incident occurred.

It was gathered that the player had raised alarm that he was finding it difficult to breathe during the practice session as they prepared for the new season.

Menaldo was immediately given CPR right inside the Marquesa de la Ensenada Stadium in San Marcos before he was rushed to the Hospital de Especialidades where he was pronounced dead.

The defender played important role in helping the club win Guatemala's second division title last campaign.

Deportivo club president Hernan Maldonado spoke of his sadness after Menaldo's death was confirmed.

Quoted by ESPN, he said:

"One does not come out of astonishment. A young, dynamic and jovial person, this happens to him.
"It is quite strong and shocking because you lose not only a player, you lose a friend. God has his plans and his purposes, but unfortunately we have the death.
"It was around 11:00 hours that they called me to inform me that Marcos had fainted in training.”

Ivorian star Oussou Konan dies of food poisoning

Meanwhile, African football fraternities have been thrown into deep mourning following the shocking death of Ivorian footballer Oussou Konan who died in his homeland after allegedly poisoned.

This development comes as a shocking news for many football followers considering the age of the deceased which was 32 and how he has been the breadwinner of his family.

Konan started out with Ivorian giants Africa Sports before heading to Egypt in 2010 where he signed for Misr El-Makkasa from Tunisian side Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

Ex-Ghana star dies at 43

Sports Brief earlier reported that Christian Gyan, famously known as Atta Rasta, a former Ghana and Feyenoord player has passed on at the age of 43.

The ex-footballer reportedly passed on in a hospital in the Netherlands where has been basing for some time now.

The 43-year-old died after losing his battle with cancer.

He was a member of the Feyenoord team that won the UEFA Cup in 2002 after beating Dortmund 3-2 in the final. He featured in that game.
