  • Esteban Ocon has recently named who he deems the most talented driver on the F1 grid

The 2024 Formula 1 driver lineup stands out as one of the most talented in the sport's history, boasting a multitude of world champions and record-setting drivers.

Among these exceptional talents is Alpine Racing’s Esteban Ocon. Despite not always being a fan favourite, largely due to his racing style and driving tactics, the French driver has forged an impressive career through the junior Formula ranks, maintaining a competitive edge since his debut in F1 in 2016.

During a recent appearance on the 'High-Performance Podcast', the 27-year-old Ocon shared his perspective on who he believes is the most gifted driver on the current F1 grid.

Ocon names most-talented F1 driver

During his appearance on the podcast, as reported by RBR Daily, the former GP3 champion singled out Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen as two of the most naturally talented drivers in the current Formula 1 lineup.

"Charles Leclerc, and Max Verstappen [are the most naturally talented drivers on the grid apart from him]. I have raced with them since.
Charles in 2005, Max in 2010, and no matter what conditions we faced, we were always neck and neck or in the top three, so them," he remarked.

Ocon's words appear to echo the sentiments of many Formula 1 stakeholders and fans, who have consistently regarded both drivers as among the best in recent times.

However, Ocon's comments have raised some eyebrows, as he opted against mentioning seven-time drivers' champion and record-holder for the most championship wins, Lewis Hamilton.

Nonetheless, as the Formula 1 spotlight turns to the Australian Grand Prix, both Verstappen and Leclerc are considered strong contenders for podium finishes Down Under.

Australian Grand Prix preview and prediction

In another report, Sports Brief highlighted an extensive preview and prediction for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

The race, scheduled at Albert Park, marks the continuation of the Asian leg 2024 season. Several teams, including Mercedes, are aiming to improve their performance following the previous two races.
