  • One of Mzansi's greatest ever boxers, Dingaan Thobela, was one of the guests of honour at #FamevsClout
  • The exhibition match was between hip-hop heavyweight Cassper Nyovest and trash-talking YouTuber Slik Talk
  • Whether he was joking or not, Thobela said that he was willing to throw hands with fans, other celebrities and active boxers

The great Dingaan Thobela was back in the public eye as one of the special guests at the infamous #FamevsClout boxing match between hip-hop heavyweight Cassper Nyovest and YouTuber Slik Talk.

Nyovest put the proverbial paws on the rabble-rousing Slik although he failed to get the knockout he sorely desired in the exhibition match.

Thobela, a former three-time world champion in two weight division, told hip-hop star Slikour that he hoped the event would reignite interest in boxing, particularly among the younger generation.

Thobela said on YouTube:

"As you know, boxing is no longer the same. It's not what it used to be. This will remind people that boxing is still alive and kicking. The sports can be taken seriously."

The 55-year-old Thobela, in portly shape, half-joked that the exhibition match would motivate him into getting back in the ring.

He added:

"Why not? What stops me from doing it again? Boxers can never say no. Look at the greatest boxer of all time, Muhammad Ali. He made comebacks from time to time. As long as he can still lift his arms then he can still fight. You can never say no to a challenge as a fighter."

Whether he was being serious or not, Thobela stated that he was open to throwing hands with fans, other celebrities and active fighters. He also concluded by saying that boxing was his life and that he would never turn on the sport that made him.

Red-hot Peter Shabulile chases goal scoring record

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile stands on the verge of history as 2021 winds down.

The Namibian was blunted by Amazulu in a shock 0-1 loss on Monday, but he will get another opportunity to go down in the record books on Thursday against Marumo Gallants. He has banged in an impressive 13 goals in 18 league matches, and 16 in 24 across all competitions.

As reported on Sports Brief, some observers on social media wondered if South Africa would ever produce hitmen like him ever again.
