Canelo Alvarez defeated John Ryder before his adoring fans on Saturday, recording a unanimous decision victory to remain the undisputed champion in the super middleweight division.
Two judges scored the bout 118-109 in favor of Alvarez, while the other had Canelo winning 120-107.
It was a huge result for Alvarez, who won for the first time in his home country of Mexico since June 2011.
Ryder’s nose gets damaged
Alvarez took control of the fight in the third round, landing a massive right hand on Ryder, causing damage to the latter’s nose, per CBS Sports.

The Mexican champion continued pummeling Ryder in the fourth round, landing hard body shots and targeting Ryder’s damaged nose.
Canelo’s favorite combination was landing a left hook on Ryder’s body before unloading with a crunching right hand upstairs.
Alvarez scores fifth-round knockdown
Alvarez finally scored the knockdown he was looking for in the fifth round, landing a straight right hand that sent Ryder crumbling against the ropes.
Ryder managed to beat the count and even landed a few left straights on Alvarez before the fifth round ended.
It seemed at that stage that it was only a matter of time before Alvarez recorded that knockout victory over Ryder.
Tough Ryder survives Alvarez’s onslaught
Ryder had other ideas, though, as he survived until the 12th round.
Not only did he survive, but Ryder was also able to land some good shots on Alvarez in the closing rounds.

UFCAlvarez tried to go for the knockout win in front of the Mexican fans. However, the stoppage didn’t come for Alvarez, who improved his record to 59-2-2 with the victory.
Canelo’s earnings for Ryder fight
Sports Brief recently reported on Alvarez’s earnings for this fight.
The IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO, and The Ring Super Middleweight champion is expected to earn an estimated $40 million.
On the other hand, Ryder is expected to take home around $2.5 million.
