The teenagers were thoroughly dominant in the 90 minutes and proved too strong for the women’s side, who play in the Spanish top flight.

It is kind to note the Athletic’s professional women’s team is one of the most successful in Spain, having five championships under their belt.

Spottbible reports that their last title came in the 2015/2016 season and they subsequently qualified for the UEFA Women's Champions League the following season.

They have fallen off, however, in recent seasons, finishing 11th in the top division last season with 40 points.

With the new campaign set to begin on September 5, the team is currently gearing up for the new season with some friendlies to get them in the mood for the new competitive campaign.

Of course, the 6-0 result caused ripples online, with one fan ending up getting a response from Virginia Torrecilla, who plays for Atletico Madrid and the Spanish national team.

Torrecilla decided to put the fan in his place after an insensitive comment after the game where he suggested “drunk” players could have gotten a better result against the youth team.

“Can you tell me what to do with this individual? Please. My patience running out ! Play with your colleagues the "drunks" and see if you win the 14-year-olds! That is always the same! If you don't like them, don't follow it, period,” she retorted at the fan.

This is not the first time an intergender match is being witnessed.

In 2017, the FC Dallas Under 15's side played a star-studded United States women's team and the reigning world champions won the clash 5-2 against the likes of Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd.

More recently, Gremio U16 side demolished Brazil women's national team 6-0 in a rare intergender encounter that took place at Vila Ventura Ecoresort on Tuesday, January 13.

It was part of the Selecao side's preparations for this summer's Olympic football tournament in Tokyo - originally scheduled to hold in 2020.
