Ghanaian and West Ham United midfielder, Mohammed Kudus, has been named the best player in the Europa League by WhoScored.

The 23-year-old beat Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang of Olympique Marseille to the top gong.

Kudus enjoyed an outstanding campaign with the Hammers in the competition, netting five goals as the English outfit reached the quarter-final of the Europa League.

According to WhoScored, a sports statistics firm, the former Ajax star scored the highest rating across the season in the Europa League to be named the best player.

Despite Lookman's hat-trick heroics in the final against Bayer Leverkusen and Aubameyang's ten-goal haul, it was Kudus who recorded the best ratings.

The talented attacking midfielder is already attracting interest from several top clubs in England, with Liverpool linked with the Right to Dream Academy graduate.

Kudus is expected to arrive in Ghana this week as the Black Stars open camp on May 30, 2024, ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

Kudus ended the season with 14 goals and six assists across all competitions, per Transfermarkt.

African trio named in UEL Team of the Season

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the Europa League Team of the Season included Africa's trio of Ademola Lookman, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Kudus.

The Nigerian forward helped Atalanta win the competition after netting a hat-trick in the final against Leverkusen on May 22, at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Aubameyang finished the tournament as the top scorer while Kudus starred as West Ham reached the quarter-finals, losing out to the finalists, Leverkusen.

Kudus praises David Moyes' impact

Sports Brief also reported that Kudus applauded outgoing West Ham manager, David Moyes, for his guidance in his first season in England.

The Ghana international excelled in his first campaign in the Premier League under the tutelage and guidance of the experienced gaffer.

It was announced earlier this month that Moyes would leave his role at the end of the campaign, with West Ham yet to reveal their next coach.
