After a 2-1 win over the Black Stars, the gaffer watched haplessly from the sidelines as Nigeria lost 2-0 to the Eagles of Mali.

While the NFF continued the search for a permanent Super Eagles coach, George was drafted to lead the national team temporarily.

Upon his return, Finidi's boys were ruthless on their home ground in Aba, thrashing Kano Pillars 5-0.

Eze Ekwutoziam opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a powerful hit after the goalkeeper saved an attempt from Joseph Atule.

It was 2-0 in the 35th minute after Chijioke Mbaoma perfectly rounded up the keeper before tucking home from close range.

Atule slotted in the third of the game to give the Elephants of Aba a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.

The left-winger completed his brace with so much finesse to make it four, while Muyiwa Alade put the icing on the cake in the third minute of stoppage time. It ended; Enyimba FC 5-0 Kano Pillars.

With the result, Enyimba maintain their second position on the NPFL standings with 48 points, three behind league leaders Enugu Rangers.

Rancour in Super Eagles camp

Sports Brief earlier reported that talks surrounding the performance and how well Finidi George handled the Nigerian team as the interim coach continue to reverberate across Nigeria's footballing community.

The 52-year-old, currently saddled with the responsibility of leading the team until a permanent head coach is named by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), recently oversaw two fixtures against Ghana and Mali.

However, while many fans and stakeholders have continued to scrutinise and air their opinions regarding the prowess and ability of the former Real Betis star to coach the Super Eagles team, a report of a rift between a select group of players and the interim coach has surfaced.
