- Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli at the end of the 2023/24 season
Joshua Zirkzee has been named as the perfect candidate to replace Victor Osimhen at Napoli, should the striker leave the reigning Italian champions at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old Nigerian forward is presently on the shopping list of Europe’s elite clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, and is highly favoured to leave the reigning Italian champions.
According to Soccernet, former AS Roma star, Davide Bombardini, has urged Napoli to sign Zirkzee when Osimhen is finally sold at the end of the season.
"Zirkzee is a player worth certain amounts. Now, I don’t know if 40 or 50 million will be enough to sign him, but next summer, the transfer market will tell us.

"When I saw him at the start, he was only missing a goal, and in my opinion, he can become Osimhen’s replacement. He is a player with a future; an investment [that] can still grow a lot."
Zirkzee has been Bologna’s star player this season, netting 11 goals in all competitions for Thiago Motta’s team as they push for a UEFA Champions League spot in Serie A.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported the Netherlands have called up Zirkzee to the senior team shortly after discussing the potential circumstances under which he could represent Nigeria.
The 22-year-old was included in the Netherlands’ provisional squad of 30 players for the friendly matches against Scotland and Germany during the international break this month.
Zirkzee, whose mother is Nigerian and father is Dutch, recently spoke about the possibility of playing for the Super Eagles in an interview but that possibility seems to have ended.
