  • Liverpool and Manchester City missed out on topping the Premier League on Sunday
  • The two English heavyweights played out to a 1-1 draw at Anfield in a thrilling clash
  • The result saw City drop to third in the standings with 63 points, one behind Arsenal

This season's Premier League title race looks set to go down the wire, with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool all challenging for the crown.

Only one point is separating the Gunners and third-placed City after 28 rounds of matches played.

The London side went top on Saturday after a 2-1 hard-fought win over Brentford at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal's win meant that either Liverpool or City would need to secure a positive result during their Sunday meeting at Anfield to topple the North Londoners.

However, there was nothing to separate the two teams at the end of their meeting, with Pep Guardiola's charges sharing the spoils with Jurgen Klopp's men in a 1-1 epic draw.

John Stones opened the scoring for the reigning champions in the 23rd minute, only for the Reds to equalise shortly after the break via Alexis Mac Allister, who found the back of the net from the penalty spot.

The result means Arsenal will head into the new week leading the charts on goal difference with 64 points, on level on points with second-placed Liverpool.

Man City are down in third with 63 points.

Tottenham boost top-four bid

Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, boosted their bid to finish in the top four after a 4-0 huge win over Aston Villa.

The result has them sitting fifth with 53 points, just two behind fourth-placed Villans.

Manchester United, who stunned Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday, occupy sixth place with 47 points, while West Ham United are seventh with 43 points.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are in 11th place with 36 points ahead of their much-anticipated clash against Newcastle United.

Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United are the three teams in the relegation zone.

Walker backs Liverpool in title race

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Manchester City defender, Kyle Walker, saying he would rather see Liverpool win the Premier League ahead of Arsenal.

City, the Reds, and the Gunners are all firmly in the title race, with the three clubs interchanging the top three spots as the campaign builds to its finish.
