FootballTen Hag drops one of Man United’s best players for disciplinary reasons
- Marcus Rashford was on target as Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 in their last match out
- But the striker was surprisingly dropped by Erik Ten Hag for the Wolves clash, with the gaffer going with Alejandro Garnacho instead
- Ten Hag has since confirmed his absence is due to 'internal disciplinary' reasons
Erik Ten Hag once again exerted his authority at Manchester United as he dropped Marcus Rashford for Manchester United’s away trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers in what was a shocker for many fans.
Rashford has been the in-form player for his side, especially with the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo, as he scored and came up with an assist in his side’s previous game against Nottingham Forest.
But on Saturday, December 31, England forward was relegated to the bench by his manager, who has since revealed the move was because of 'internal disciplinary' reasons, per Daily Mail.
Instead, the United boss decided to go with young Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho to lead the attack.

“Internal disciplinary. No details. Our rules. Now focus on the game. He is in very good form and no-one can play all the games”, Ten Hag said as cited by Fabrizio Romano.
United’s starting lineup against Wolves included:
De Gea, Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan Bissaka, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Martial, Garnacho
Ten Hag shows who is boss
Only a few days ago, Ten Had admitted his side urgently needed a striker, and would be on the hunt for one in the January transfer window
However, despite being devoid of attacking prowess up front, the manager is not afraid to show the team who is in charge, and benching Rashford was another indication of his authority.

FootballThis was the same case with new Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who experienced the full scope of the United boss’ authority in his last days as a Manchester United player.
Ronaldo was benched consistently in the 2022/23 campaign, and publicly showed disapproval by refusing to come on during a game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, United will be hoping to come out with all three points against a tricky Wolves team, now managed by former Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui.
