Morgan’s comments were in relation to Messi’s Instagram page, where he has recently been sharing photos after his World Cup triumph.
It isn’t the first time the television personality has mocked the veteran striker's World Cup win. As noted by SportBible, he took aim at Argentina’s supporters who came out to celebrate the team’s victory.
ESPN shared a photo of the crowds, saying that an estimated four million people were on the streets of Buenos Aires. Morgan was quick to respond to the tweet, once again taking a cheap shot at the Argentinian captain.
"So? The city’s population is 15m - have the other 11m stayed inside because, like me, they think Maradona is still the Argentinian GOAT?"
Naturally, many fans have taken issue with his constant jibes.
Morgan claims France were poisoned
British broadcaster Morgan made a wild allegation, hinting the 'camel virus' which rocked the France squad was actually deliberate.
France were rocked by the virus days before the much-anticipated final, with a number of the playing body falling ill with flu-like symptoms.
Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano fell to the virus ahead of the semi-finals, before Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate followed suit, Sports Brief reported.
Morgan: Ronaldo better than Messi
Controversial broadcaster Morgan has produced a 'large sheet of facts' to prove Ronaldo is better than Messi when it comes to football.
The Argentine was in sensational form in Qatar as he pushed to inspire his country to World Cup glory, Sports Brief earlier reported.
The 35-year-old starred as La Albiceleste thumped Croatia 3-0 to progress to the tournament final, netting one and providing one assist.
