Chuba Akpom has broken his silence on his future with Ajax amidst growing interest from English clubs.

Speaking after Ajax's convincing 4-1 win over FC Volendam on Sunday, May 5, the 28-year-old striker stressed his desire to enjoy playing football, regardless of where it may be.

Akpom has struggled to secure a regular starting spot since joining the Dutch giants last summer, making just nine starts across all competitions this season.

He, however, remains unfazed, focusing on the present rather than worrying about his long-term prospects.

As reported by All Nigeria Soccer, the Nigerian-born forward has been in impressive form lately, scoring five goals and registering two assists in his last six Eredivisie games. His recent performances have sparked renewed interest from English clubs, but Akpom is taking things one game at a time.

'I don't know yet what the club wants. I want to have fun and play football, it doesn't matter where. We have two more games to play and then we will see what will happen. I cannot predict the future. The most important thing is that I enjoy it. Whether I start or have to come from the bench, I do what I have to do," he said, as quoted by Voetbal International.

Interestingly, Akpom has backed former Liverpool star Xabi Alonso, who has emerged as a sought-after coaching figure. Alonso, currently at the helm of Bayer Leverkusen, has confirmed his commitment to the German club for at least another season.

Sports Brief reported that Akpom spoke about his performance following a 3-1 victory over PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie.

The forward, a product of the Hale End Academy, scored twice, boosting the team's aspirations for the European play-off spots.

It marked the Anglo-Nigerian's second instance of scoring two goals in a league fixture since his transfer to the Netherlands, with his initial feat achieved against Heerenveen last November.
