Bodybuilding legend Phil Heath became the latest big personality to weigh in on the unending debate on whether Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is natural or not.

His muscular build and athleticism have often led to questions of whether one can be able to achieve such a physique naturally, with many critics insisting The Rock is ‘on gear’.

Notable personalities like podcaster Joe Rogan have further fueled speculation with their take on the usage of performance-enhancing substances (PEDs) among big names in Holywood.

The topic of PEDs is a sensitive one in the bodybuilding community, with only a handful of athletes admitting to taking the substances to have an edge in competitions.

Bodybuilding influencers like Mike O’Hearn have often tried to take the political correct stance, insisting on their right to privacy on such sensitive matters, but such sentiments only serve to heighten speculation on their ‘natty’ status.

Phil Heath’s take on The Rock

Phil Heath is no stranger to the world of PED’s considering he has been champion in the biggest bodybuilding stage seven times.

In a recent episode of Bradley Martyn’s Raw Talk podcast, the bodybuilding legend attempted to answer the question on the question of whether The Rock was natural or enhanced.

Heath took a nuanced stance, as he subtly suggested The Rock’s physique was attainable naturally.

“I have no idea because when I look at him, I have no idea,” the second most decorated Olympia champion said.
“I don’t want to slam DJ (Dwayne Johnson) on this but he is not as big as people like. He’s 6”5 bro. How much do you think he weighs? That’s achievable.”.

Heath further alluded to The Rock’s Samoan ancestry and the fact that people from that heritage tend to be bulkier.

“He is part of Samoans. Have you grown up with Samoans? They are jacked. I’m going to keep it real. He’s been an athlete all his life. You’re going to carry something. You’re not just going to wither away.”

The Rock and Phil Heath’s new show

Phil Heath has been good friends with The Rock over the years, and the two partnered up to film a documentary titled Breaking Olympia.

The show focuses on Heath’s comeback to the Olympia stage in 2020 as he sought to win a record-matching eighth title, according to Essentially Sports.

Only two people have managed to win eight Olympias in history; Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney.
