The wrestling world is in mourning after the death of Windham Rotunda, known by his stage name Bray Wyatt.
The sad news was confirmed by WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H in a post on social media.
More details have emerged concerning his tragic death, with a heart attack reportedly the cause of his sudden passing.
Wyatt's cause of death revealed
According to Fightful‘s Sean Ross Sapp, Wyatt got sick with COVID-19 earlier this year, and that exacerbated the heart issues that he was already dealing with.
Sapp added in his post that there was a lot of positive progress relating to Wyatt’s recovery and that a return to wrestling was already being planned.
That won’t happen now, with Sapp revealing that Wyatt unfortunately passed away due to a heart attack.
Sapp wrote that Wyatt’s family wanted some details clarified surrounding his death. That said, he encouraged those who read his post to respect the family’s privacy during this time.
WWE also released a statement about Wyatt’s death, writing:
“WWE is saddened to learn that Windham Rotunda, also known as Bray Wyatt, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 24, at age 36. WWE extends its condolences to Rotunda’s family, friends and fans.”
Triple H shares tragic news
Triple H earlier confirmed the sad news in a post on X, writing:
"Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda - also known as Bray Wyatt - unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”
