The Undertaker's background

The Undertaker, whose full name is Mark William Calaway, was born in March 1965 in Texas, USA. He is popularly known for his 'Deadman' gimmick, and he joined the WWE in 1990. He was introduced to the wrestling company as Kane the Undertaker but only retained the name for a short while.

Does The Undertaker have siblings?

Yes. Calaway grew up alongside four older brothers, Paul, Timothy (deceased), Michael, and David Calaway. As a young boy, he played football and basketball in high school. He joined the Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas, for a degree in Sports Management and played as a centre for the Los Angeles Rams in the 1985/1986 season. However, he dropped out of university to focus on professional wrestling.

Kane's real name is Glenn Thomas Jacobs. He was born in April 1967 in Spain. He joined the WWE years after Undertaker in 1997. Just like his half-brother, he played football and basketball in high school. He attended Northeast Missouri State University.

When he joined the WWE, his stage name was Dr. Isaac Yankem, but it soon changed to 'Diesel.' According to Sporf.com, Kane looked up to The Undertaker before joining the federation. He stated that working closely with him was what dreams are made of.

Are WWE's Kane and Undertaker brothers?

The Undertaker and Kane have several similarities, including their physique and height. Per the WWE storyline, Paul Bearer, Kane's father, and Undertaker's mother, had an affair that saw her give birth to Kane. The Undertaker later burned down his family's business, a funeral home, killing his mother. Kane and Undertaker survived the tragic fire.

Undertaker's half-brother was mentally and physically scarred, but his father trained him as a personal soldier who attacked anyone who crossed him. He met his brother in 1996 to serve revenge for the childhood incident. This reunion marked the beginning of numerous fights against the two brothers, including a Buried Alive match in 2010 where Kane buried Undertaker for good, their last fight against each other after 25 years.

The feud between Kane and The Undertaker ended, and they started fighting as a tag team and winning various championships. One of their major contests as a tag team was the 2018 Crown Jewel to fight against the D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels). Their partnership grew even outside the ring and saw the pair form a brotherhood even outside the competitions.

Are The Undertaker and Kane really brothers?

The wrestling legends are not brothers in real life. Their on-screen brotherhood relationship was part of the WWE script. Kane retired in 2022 after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021.
