World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) stands as the premier wrestling promotion company worldwide, having achieved remarkable success throughout its history.

The fervent dedication of fans towards WWE stems from the personas embodied by exceptional superstars, creating a world of larger-than-life characters that truly captivate their imagination.

The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, and numerous others have consistently delivered awe-inspiring performances, consistently showcasing their utmost brilliance.

For the professional wrestling industry, it's a wide-open debate to name the greatest of all-time, where fans and pundits can make a strong enough case for 10 to 15 superstars, the Sportster reported.

That said, when one takes into account a number of factors, such as championship success, longevity, in-ring work, and so much more, it becomes easier to narrow down.

Sports Brief has considered 12 wrestling greats in the history of WWE.

Best WWE superstars of all time

12. Eddie Guerrero

Eddie Guerrero, who is possibly one of the most talented professional wrestlers of Mexican descent, rose to fame thanks to his tenacity, ring acuity, and character work.

His ascent to the top of the WWE was largely a result of how well-liked he was by the audience.

The former WWE Champion is an inspiration to all professional wrestlers who aspire to succeed in the business and has competed in numerous prestigious wrestling promotions around the world.

He was popular and won many accolades during his tenure with the WWE, often blurring the lines between heel, face, and tweener.

The former WWE Champion would most likely rank among the Top 5 Greatest Wrestlers of All Time if he were still alive today.

12. Bret Hart

Bret "The Hitman" Hart, a WWE legend, debuted in 1985 and became a pivotal figure for the company, especially during the competitive challenges of the 90s.

Known for his technical prowess, he carried WWE through tough times. Hart excelled in wrestling, style, promos, and athleticism, boasting numerous championships including five WWF titles and two Hall of Fame inductions. He ranks among the top ten in our list of wrestling greats.

11. Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle went on to become one of the world's most talented technical wrestlers thanks to his amateur wrestling background, while his natural comedic ability endeared him to the fans.

Without the enormous contribution made by the Olympic Gold Medalist during his early employment with the company, SmackDown probably wouldn't exist.

His technical ability and grappling techniques were unmatched, and as a result, Angle delivered epic confrontations with Brock Lesnar, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H.

One of the most overlooked matches in the history of the organisation was his epic match against The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship at No Way Out.

10. Brock Lesnar

Possibly one of the most dangerous wrestlers to ever enter a WWE ring, Brock Lesnar is the organization's top draw at the box office right now. Lesnar has done it all with conviction and has achieved great success in American football, mixed martial arts, and professional wrestling.

The Mayor of Suplex City joined the WWE in 2000 and debuted in the company's developmental division, OVW, where he and Shelton Benjamin had three successful runs as the OVW Southern Tag Team Champions.

He ended the Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania 30, which remains the most incredible accomplishment in his career. Lesnar is also the longest-reigning Universal Champion in addition to winning the WWE Championship, the NJPW World Championship, the UFC Heavyweight Championship, and an NCAA Heavyweight Championship.

9. Triple H

There are not many wrestlers who have contributed to the business like Triple H. WWE's developmental territory has undergone significant change as a result of the work of a man widely regarded as one of the best minds in professional wrestling.

The Game has been a loyal WWE guy and has earned his position in the company as one of the top superstars in the industry.

HHH is a Grand Slam Champion, with fourteen World Championships that puts him behind John Cena and Ric Flair. He is also widely appreciated for his ability to tell stories in NXT and for providing fast-paced action to the fans.

Through three decades of his very good matches and very good promos, we have to give credit where it is due.

8. Andre the Giant

The modern-day fans of professional wrestling would despise Andre the Giant.

He generally worked at a sluggish pace, and was nothing more than a special attraction in the last ten years of his career because he could hardly move. That, however, does not accurately depict The Eighth Wonder of the World.

Yes, Andre spent the majority of his career as nothing more than a special attraction, but he was among the best to ever hold that title.

He was a sight to behold and a spectacle. He more than made up for his lack of wrestling moves with charisma, storytelling prowess, and popularity.

Throughout the majority of his career, Andre the Giant was the most well-known and adored person. He easily qualified as the GOAT of the sport because professional wrestling is about more than just moves.

7. John Cena

Whether you love him or hate him, there's no denying that John Cena's arrival in the Ruthless Aggression era changed the business forever.

He made his WWE debut in 2002, making an instant impact against Kurt Angle in what was a shocking moment.

Cena served as the face of the company for almost 10 years thanks to his physical attributes and strong work ethic, which inspired hordes of fans around the globe.

The Cenation leader had the privilege of starring in WrestleMania five times, as well as numerous pay-per-views, during his time as a regular main-event superstar.

If personal accolades are anything to take into account, Cena has 16 world title reigns to equal fellow great, Ric Flair, for the highest number in company history.

6. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan, who is regarded as one of the most well-liked professional wrestling icons of all time, embodies everything that propelled WWE to prominence in the 1980s.

The Hulkster participated in numerous prestigious promotions, including WWF/WWE, WCW, and TNA, as a regular main-event superstar.

After serving as the WWF's public face for almost ten years, Hulk Hogan went on to host the WWE's signature event WrestleMania an unprecedented eight times.

The superstar had incredible feuds throughout his career, with Ultimate Warrior, Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, and Andre the Giant.

Although many ardent wrestling fans agree that Hulk Hogan may not fit in the sport's current landscape, inside or outside the ring, his contributions to it are indelible.

5. Stone Cold

The most revered and well-known superstar in the history of the wrestling business is surely Steve Austin. There is no denying his anti-establishment renegade is arguably the best wrestling gimmick.

Stone Cold defied the odds and carried a feud with the chairman of the company that was too entertaining to ignore, making him arguably the most successful star of the Attitude Era.

His feuds with Vince McMahon, the Rock, the Undertaker, Kane, and Triple H were incredible, with the latter one carrying to him his career-best match.

The Rattlesnake wasn't a well-known figure back in WCW, but his foray into WWE transformed him into a popular culture icon and elevated him to a position of unparalleled prominence.

4. The Rock

Dwayne Johnson made his WWF debut in 1996, and the fans immediately rejected him because of his monotonous babyface persona - his heel turn made the fans adore him.

His contributions to the Attitude Era changed the game and increased his reputation as one of the cockiest figures in the sports entertainment industry.

The Rock reintroduced entertainment to the business and produced outstanding feuds with stars like Stone Cold, the Undertaker, and many others.

Along with winning numerous championships while working for the WWE, the Rock cemented his place in history by triumphing in the 2000 Royal Rumble match.

He ruled the business like no one else and rose to the position of most successful actor in the entertainment industry after leaving the company to pursue a career in Hollywood.

3. Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is the best in-ring performer in the history of this industry, despite the fact that many WWE superstars have elevated their stature with their incredible characterizations.

Due to his adaptability in the ring, HBK has become the most recognizable WWE superstar of all time.

When he first joined the company, Michaels had incredible power behind the scenes, far more than any other celebrity.

He is the only superstar to have won the Royal Rumble twice, and he also became the first-ever WWF Grand Slam Champion.

Although many of the independent stars competing today idolise HBK, no performer in the business has ever been able to match his stature.

Shawn Michaels was truly a wrestling machine and the Show-Stopper, which is only justified by the fact that many of his matches are regarded as timeless classics!

2. The Undertaker

One man has been providing generations of WWE fans with nonstop supernatural entertainment for a quarter of a century - and his legacy will reign immortal.

No WWE superstar has ever been as devoted or as eager to perform as The Undertaker. He has cemented his status as the greatest WWE performer of all time by exemplifying greatness in every way.

The Phenom brings something special to the table, and he has been doing that for almost three decades, according to every superstar who has ever stepped between the ropes.

There is no denying his professional successes and his collaboration with his kayfabe half-brother, Kane, during the Attitude Era produced some iconic moments.

His WrestleMania Streak was highly responsible for elevating him to the top of the mountain, with many fans left heartbroken when it ended in New Orleans in 2014.

It's hard to imagine a WWE without the Undertaker, and that only goes on to show how influential he has been for the business.

1. Ric Flair

Is there a wrestler on the planet whose charisma, personality, skill, and accomplishments can match those of Ric Flair?

The Nature Boy, arguably the greatest professional wrestler of the 20th century, rose to super-stardom thanks to these attributes and more.

Over the course of Flair's inspiring 40-year career, wrestling fans everywhere experienced some amazing moments that they will never forget.

The Nature Boy holds the record for having the most championship reigns of any professional wrestler in history with twenty, with a record 16 of those reigns coming from WWE.

Ric Flair will likely end up being the greatest wrestler of this century if statistics are anything to go by.

WWE superstars with African heritage

In news related to the wrestling giant, Sports Brief previously reported on WWE superstars with African roots who continue to make their mark on the industry.

Top names like Kofi Kingston - who wrestles as part of the New Day stable with Big E and Xavier Woods - can trace their heritage back to the African continent.
