Vera won their first fight in stunning fashion, beating O'Malley via TKO in the first round. O'Malley's night took a turn for the worse when an ankle injury started hindering his movement.
Vera took full advantage of O'Malley's ankle issue, getting top position on the latter and landing some big shots. That left the referee no other choice but to stop the fight, per USA Today.
A lot has changed since that showdown almost four years ago. O'Malley is now the bantamweight champion after he knocked out Aljamain Sterling in the second round at UFC 292.
O'Malley will look to avenge his only loss against Vera, who is coming off a unanimous decision win over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 292.
The much-awaited showdown between Poirier and Saint-Denis will finally take place at UFC 299. There were fears the fight wouldn't push through after Poirier said he had never signed a contract with the promotion for the bout.

Poirier is coming off a second-round TKO loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 291. Saint-Denis, on the other hand, last fought at UFC 295, knocking out Matt Frevola in the first round.
