- Dana White wants Fury and Jones to prove who is badder, and wants it to happen in the Octagon
Jon Jones versus Tyson Fury could still be a potential fight in the future.
UFC President Dana White is keen to see the fight happen and will gladly welcome Fury to the Octagon.
Why Jones vs Fury?
The concept of Jones taking on Fury may seem strange, especially considering that both men compete in different sports.
Fury is a heavyweight boxing champion, while Jones is a heavyweight champion in MMA. The idea of the two of them fighting came about thanks to comments made by Joe Rogan.
As noted by Marca, Rogan claimed that Fury wouldn’t stand a chance against Bones, a statement that didn’t sit well with The Gypsy King.
Fury furious, and Jones responds
The WBC Heavyweight champion then launched an explosive tirade toward the UFC commentator, saying no man born from a mother could beat him.
Jones then responded to Fury, saying Rogan’s comments touched a nerve with the champion.
He then told Fury to contact White to set up a fight, MMA Fighting reported. Fury backtracked on his earlier comments and insisted that he would only fight Jones if it were in a boxing match.
White gives Fury a chance
White has now offered Fury a chance to prove who would win in a fight, saying he would make it happen if the boxer was serious, The Mirror reported.
“The offer is out there if you want to do it in the UFC. I know he was messing around a little with MMA for a while there, let’s do it. Let’s answer the question. If you want the fight, if you want the title of baddest man on the planet, let’s do it,” White said.
Dana White can't understand deal between Professional Fighters League and Francis Ngannou
UFC“We could all talk about this forever, but there’s only one way to find out. I’m willing to do it. Tyson can call me himself. He has my number, we have a good relationship, or Tyson’s people can call me, and we’ll get it done,” White added.
