Israel Adesanya didn’t take long after defeating Alex Pereira to send a warning to another middleweight.
The Last Stylebender knocked out Pereira in the main event of UFC 287 to reclaim his Middleweight title.
During the post-fight interview, the Nigerian-born star turned his attention to a fellow African middleweight, though he didn’t mention him by name.
Adesanya said he didn’t want to give the fighter any clout by mentioning his name, but that he needed to choose his words more wisely when referring to those who paved the way for him.

The only middleweight in the division with hails from South Africa is Dricus du Plessis. The undefeated du Plessis recently angered Adesanya with his comments about being more African.
As noted by MMA Mania, du Plessis said he would be the first real African champion, by arguing that fighters like Adesanya, Kamaru Usman and Francis Ngannou didn’t live on the continent anymore and therefore weren’t really African.
While Usman was more reserved with his response to the comment, Adesanya was more straight to the point. He originally referred to du Plessis as ‘some idiot’ when he first heard the comments, MMA News reported.
