Christian Rodriguez handed the 18-year-old bantamweight prospect a lesson he will never forget, beating Rosas by unanimous decision on Saturday at UFC 287.
All three judges scored the bout 29-28 in favor of Rodriguez, who came back from losing the first round.
All eyes were on Rosas, who became the youngest fighter ever signed to the UFC last year at only 17.

He was given the honor of opening the main card at UFC 287 after beating Jay Perrin by submission in the first round in his debut at UFC 282.
Rosas nearly records submission win
Rosas got off to a solid start, with the ground specialist taking Rodriguez to the canvas several times in search of the submission win, per ESPN.
He came close to grabbing the victory in the opening round, with Rosas nearly snaring a rear-naked choke on Rodriguez while the former was on the latter’s back several times.
Rodriguez stuns Rosas
There is no quit with Rodriguez, who survived Rosas’ onslaught in the first round.
The tables turned in the second and third rounds as Rosas looked gassed following numerous attempts to finish the fight quickly.
Rosas tried to launch the same attacks on Rodriguez in the second round, but the 25-year-old was able to thwart them this time around. Rodriguez was able to reverse positions when Rosas attempted to drag the former to the ground.
Rodriguez inflicted heavy damage on Rosas when the former assumed the top position, landing short and powerful elbows to the latter’s head and body.
