Kenyan tennis star, Angella Okutoyi, produced a flawless performance to beat Egypt's Lamis Elhussein Abdelaziz to win the women's singles tennis title in the ongoing African Games.
Okutoyi's win is a major step toward her Olympics dream, and she will likely secure a ticket to Paris in the coming months.
The 20-year-old beat the Egyptian in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) to become the first Kenyan to win the title in 46 years since Jane Davies-Doxzon.
A day before, Okutoyi came from a set down and 0-3 in the second set to defeat the defending champion, Egypt's Mayar Sherif, 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(5).

The East African nation now has five gold medals in the 13th African Games. Four of those medals have come from athletics.
Okutoyi, alongside Cynthia Cheruto, claimed silver in the women's doubles.
Ranked 532 in the world, Okutoyi needs to break into the top 400 by the 10th of June to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, per ITF.
A ticket to the Olympics would be a major step in her young career.
Okutoyi makes history
Sports Brief earlier reported on Okutoyi making history after becoming the first player to secure both singles and doubles titles in an ITF W25 event on December 23, 2023.
She beat Germany's Lena Papadakis 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 to win the singles title, then beat Jessie Aney and Papadakis, with her partner Sada Nahimana to win the doubles title.
