The dream lives on for Jessica Pegula.
The American stormed into the quarterfinals of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships with a comprehensive straight-sets victory over Lesia Tsurenko on Sunday.
The 29-year-old will look to keep her run going this coming Tuesday when she takes on Marketa Vondrousova in the last eight.
Pegula’s road to the quarters
Pegula barged into the quarterfinals of Wimbledon with an emphatic 6-1, 6-3 win over Tsurenko on Sunday.
It was a huge victory for the Buffalo native, who reached the last eight at the All England Club for the first time in her career, per Reuters.
Pegula dominated the young Ukrainian right from the get-go, finishing the match in just one hour and 15 minutes.
Providing the impetus for her victory was her excellent return. She won 54 percent of her receiving points against Tsurenko and converted five of her 11 break-point chances.
She also found some success while attacking the net, winning nine of her 12 points there.
Next up for Pegula is a quarterfinal clash with Vondrousova. This will be the first meeting between the pair on the WTA Tour.
The world's richest tennis player is 8-2 in her last 10 matches.
Vondrousova’s road to the quarters
Vondrousova moved into the quarterfinals of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships with a thrilling 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Marie Bouzkova on Sunday.
It was a fantastic performance by the 42nd-ranked Czech, who needed two hours and 11 minutes to record the three-set victory.
With the win, Vondrousova reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal for the first time in her career, per WTA.

AthleticsThings are bound to get tougher, though, for the 24-year-old as standing in her way in the next round is Pegula.
The American has been in fine form in this tournament, dropping just one set in four matches played thus far.
For Vondrousova to record the all-important victory, she needs to continue her excellent return play and put pressure on the fourth seed’s serve.
She won 44 percent of her receiving points and converted five of her eight break-point opportunities against Bouzkova in the round of 16.
The Sokolov native is 7-3 in her last 10 matches.
