Springboks captain and two-time Rugby World Cup champion, Siya Kolisi, has been named among Time Magazine's 100 most influential individuals of 2024.

The catalogue features individuals who have significantly altered the narratives that characterise the preceding year.

In 2023, Kolisi steered South Africa to an unprecedented fourth Rugby World Cup title, marking only the second time a team retained the trophy following the 2019 victory.

This achievement echoes the All Blacks' consecutive triumphs in 2011 and 2015.

Commenting on the accolade of making Time's prestigious list, Kolisi remarked, as reported by The South African:

"Being named... is an incredible honour, one that deeply humbles me. It’s a profound responsibility to stand alongside individuals who dedicate their lives to enriching others. This recognition isn’t just for me; it reflects the numerous individuals and communities who have poured into me and shaped me to be the person I am and am becoming."

Speaking about Kolisi's impact, South African comedian, Trevor Noah, remarked that he epitomised hope when many grappled with adversity from the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, persistent energy shortages, and political turmoil in the nation.

Noah highlighted Kolisi's role as a beacon for his countrymen, underscoring his leadership philosophy centred on service and inspiration.

"Through his wisdom and humility, Siya has taught us what a powerful captain should be: someone who serves and inspires those he leads. And for him to lead a team in a historically white sport, to be loved and adored by fans of all races, is an immense achievement," Noah said, as reported by iAfrica.

Among the other notable figures on the list are Yulia Navalnaya, Dua Lipa, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Jeffrey Wright, Taraji P. Henson, Elliot Page, Burna Boy, Michael J. Fox, Jenni Hermoso, Hayao Miyazaki, Max Verstappen, Javier Milei, and William Ruto.
